National FASD Day is 9/9/09, event at Capitol is in the planning stages

The 10th Anniversary of FASD Awareness Day is September 9 , 2009.
In honor of this day Assembly member Jim Beall will join us in recognition of International FASD Awareness Day. Dr. Lyn Laboriel, Director of the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Center, Violence Intervention Program in Los Angeles will be speaking at the Capitol. She will speak about the progress we, as Californians, have made in the field and the importance of continuing our mission. Eva Carner, parent, advocate and educator will speak about her experiences of parenting a child with FASD. Rick Nelson, self advocate and educator, will be speaking about his experience of living with FASD. The task force is grateful to our speakers for their time and dedication to the field.
