Governmental Update and Structural issues
Dept Mental Health is holding local stakeholder meetings – FASD was addressed but no certain answers were addressed
Maria will email ADP to find out if/when Madeline’s position would be filled
FASD Prevention was part of the discussion in developing the the Mental Health Services Act implementation
Re-alignment shifts money to the counties, administrative services move from Dept. of Mental Health to the Dept. of Health Care Services
SIT – FASD workgroup recommended another agency (other than ADP) would need to take the lead on further analysis of the Matrix (listing of all services related to FASD and the overlap of efforts).
Maria will ask CDPH SIT representative if the SIT is going to pursue additional FASD workgroup tasks
CDPH new Director is Dr. Ron Chapman

Legislative Update
AB 540 Beall – Alcohol and Drug Screening and Brief Intervention Services
Currently in Senate Appropriations, The Arc was asked to submit another support as amended letter
Scheduled to be heard at 10:00 on August 15th, 2011

Task Force Organizational Issues
Need to send out invitations again to develop a core group of people that are critical to the TF.
List Serv is good as a communication forum and have task force and list serv as separate

Reach out to the State and Community Partners and get the member’s name who represents each entity and create a charter that includes the purpose and requirements for membership.

  1. When and where is the next meeting? I want to advocate and be active in the cause of eliminating FASD’s and helping those struggling with the effects of FASD. I WANT to be at the next meeting.

    Also, are there any events scheduled in Northern California for 09/09/10

    Thank for your interest. The next meeting is Weds. May 5th, 2010 from 10:00 – 2:00. Meeting location is 1225 8th St., Sacramento, CA 95814
    We also have a state task force list serv I can add you to if you are inerested in getting regular updates.
